Description of the Congregation: Crossroads is a small worshiping community in the town of Waterford, Connecticut. We are a worshiping community in the Reformed faith that has recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. We enjoy a vibrant and inspirational music ministry led by a talented young Music Director. Average worship attendance is about 30 participants weekly. Worship is offered both in-person and via ZOOM.

We are a beloved community that strives as God’s beloved people in the strength and joy and commitment of our spiritual life together. Our Bible study program has recently begun to meet again, under the leadership of our current stated pastor, to help our congregation grow in faith and build personal relationships with God through Jesus Christ.

We are a welcoming community who shares our resources with our neighbors near and far to live in and reflect the light of Jesus Christ.

We are a community that works cooperatively with other denominations and other faiths. In the recent past we have shared our sanctuary and fellowship with a neighboring Congregational church as they faced dissolution. Additionally a local Jewish congregation spent several years worshiping at Crossroads as they sought their new home.

We are a community that cares deeply about and for each other as we meet in small groups for choir rehearsal, committee meetings, and community support programs.

Description of the Larger Community around the Congregation: We are a suburban church, near the water in southeastern Connecticut, with urban mission opportunities and a committed crew of people who volunteer widely. While our commitment to mission is an essential part of congregational life and worship, we feel there are opportunities to deepen the faith and commitment to mission of the church community.

This is a half-time position with total compensation of $55,000 – 65,000 per year. Areas of responsibility include:

As Jesus loved and trusted God above all else, so we worship God whose steadfast love never fails us.

As Christ offered living water to the woman at the well, so we will proclaim the Good News that God’s love is for all.

As Jesus fed the hungry, washed the feet of his disciples, and healed the sick and the lame, so we will be the servants of all.

As Jesus came among us to teach the Good News of the Kingdom, so we are called to study God’s Word and share the Word near and far.

As Jesus taught the great commandment, so we will love God with all our hearts, minds, soul and strength, and will love our neighbor as ourselves.

As Jesus taught us to pray, so we will open our hearts and minds in conversation with God.

In the power of the Holy Spirit we are called into joyful community with one another.

As Christ is among us yet, so we have hope.
